Don't Disciple

Here is the basic skeleton; more will be added on Tuesday.

Why don't churches disciple?

  • Because they preach cheap grace (article).

  • Because they are seeker-sensitive but believer-insensitive (article).
  • Because they are less converted (article).
  • Because they are program-dependent (article)
  • Because they are too often ashamed of the gospel and therefore assume the gospel (article).
  • Because they don't pray.

In The Praying Church, Paul Miller shares some challenging prayer ideas.  One of the book's guiding principles is "Prayer is not one more activity of the church - it lies at the heart of all the church's ministry." (26)

  • Because they promote "perfection," not sanctification.
