Throughout our lives we have been so blessed with friendships and ministry opportunities.
This blog is meant to share what God has been doing in, for and through us. It is also used as a resource page for teaching and preaching Dave has had the opportunity to do. We do this for the purpose of GLORIFYING GOD and HELPING OTHERS GLORIFY GOD.
As I shared in May, we are prayerfully looking forward to taking what we have learned at Emmanuel Baptist Church to another church. God, in his great providence, helped us connect with the leadership team at West Cannon.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the pastor of adult ministries and discipleship if this where the Lord has us serve.
The adult ministries part of this role includes development and oversight of the Adult Bible Classes, men's and women's ministries and small groups.
The Discipleship part includes leading the process of developing a culture of evangelism and discipleship along with a Biblical Counseling training program.
I am very excited about these opportunities to help West Cannon grow in their disciple making mission of worshipping God, encouraging one another and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.
It has been great to connect with the leadership team and their wives.
There are many transitions ahead for Krista, Joel (entering 9th grade), Josiah (entering 6th grade) and Jadyn (entering 2nd grade) and me. We could GREATLY appreciate your prayers as we prepare for our ministry change, the kid's schooling and so many other things.
A great connection we have already made with West Cannon is they are another supporting church of Mark and Anahi Self, our missionary friends in Argentina.
Please pray for our time during the last weekend in July.
I am speaking to a couple of different groups of people on Saturday, July 29th and preaching in both of the morning services on the 3oth and answering questions in the evening.
This year's theme at Camp Patmos theme is "Detours." I want you to use every chapel time to exhort, strongly encourage, remind the campers that God is the one we need to trust for everything - salvation, godly living, help in difficult times. Monday Night—God is Faithful to Keep His Promises
Exhort means to strongly encourage, urge, to build up
God is SOVEREIGN WHICH MEANS HE IS THE BOSS
God is the creator and sustainer
Nothing happens except through Him and by His Will
Action Step: Look to God and not yourself.
Tuesday Morning—God Rescues and Delivers
God is THE RESCUER
Israel suffered because of sin
other people's sin (in Egypt)
their own sin (in the wilderness)
Salvation comes from God.
Salvation connects us to God.
Action Step: Repent of your sin because God Rescues
Tuesday Night—God Rescues and Delivers
God is THE RESCUER
Two ways to live
Keep saying "No" to God and pretend to be your own king.
Stop "No" to God and say "Sorry" to God and start living with Jesus as your king.
Action Step:Talk to God. Say sorry, thank you and please.
