HOUSING UPDATE

It is not everything.  It is not nothing.  It is something.

Some of you know that we were very excited about our upcoming move.
Today (12/22), we removed our offer on the house.
While it was a very difficult decision because there were things we loved about the house,
it was also a necessary decision because of recent information.

It is not everything.  We know the stuff of the world is not the most important thing.
It is not nothing.  At the same time, we were excited about establishing our new home.
It is something.  Not going through with this sale is not the biggest thing in the world.  It is also not just a minor thing in our lives.  It is something that has had a big impact on our lives over the last couple of weeks.

We are thankful for helpful people - our realtor, the inspector, a contractor friend, and so many people who have been praying for us and caring for us.
We are thankful for the sovereignty of God - circumstances and timing issues that helped protect our family.
We are thankful for reminders from God - verses like Proverbs 3:5,6 are helpful at times like this.

"What we’re told not to lean on is our 'own understanding,' meaning conclusions based primarily on our own perceptions. Because our own understanding simply will not bear the full weight of reality. It was never intended to." (The Insanity Of Leaning On Our Own Understanding, Jon Bloom)

As I think about everything that we have gone through the past couple of weeks-
The joy of finding a house that we could use to minister to and host others.
The nervousness of making such a big decision.
The excitement of sharing the news with people who have been journeying with us over the years.
The disappointment in having to make the decision to back out of the offer.
Even the sadness of having to share this news with our church, friends and family who were so excited for us.

It is often through emotions like these that we try to understand life.  We perceive life, through not just the facts, but also through the emotions we are experiencing.

The Bible reminds us to TRUST IN THE LORD and NOT TO LEAN ON OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING.

My emotions change.  My feelings let me down.
BUT GOD is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

"It is insane to trust such pitifully limited understanding when one can trust the unlimited understanding of God." (Bloom)

We would greatly appreciate your continued prayers.
